At ElectionBuddy, we're committed to helping homeowners associations (HOAs) streamline and strengthen their election processes. We’re excited to share three recent improvements built specifically with HOA administrators in mind.
Many HOAs require a quorum, aka a minimum number of votes, for a vote to be valid. If quorum isn't reached, the vote might need to be extended or rescheduled or declared invalid, depending on the community’s bylaws.
In ElectionBuddy Vote Setup, you can now configure quorum and threshold requirements directly. Results clearly show whether quorum requirements were met. Quorum can be set for the overall vote and a winning threshold set for each ballot question. This added transparency gives both voters and administrators confidence in the outcome.
Not all voters carry equal weight. In some HOAs, voting power is distributed based the number of properties owned, square footage, membership level, ownership or assigned proxies.
Split Weight Voting allows voters to divide their vote weight across multiple ballot choices. For example, a voter holding 10 votes for a motion,1 for themselves and 9 from proxies, can allocate 5 votes to "Yes" and 5 to "No". This is especially useful for directed proxies, where a voter casts votes according to specific instructions from the other voters they represent.
This feature provides voter holders the flexibility they need in allocating votes, which is especially helpful in complex proxy holder situations..
Many properties have joint ownership, such as a husband and wife, or multiple contacts who have the right to vote. That’s why we’ve introduced support for multiple email addresses per ballot ID.
Now, you can send voting notifications to several email addresses for one property, ensuring that all parties stay in the loop and have the right to vote. Even though multiple recipients receive the voting link, only one vote can be cast, maintaining voting integrity. And when votes are cast, all voters are informed, which improves owner communication.
We’re always working on new features to support the unique needs of HOAs. If there's a specific improvement you'd like to see, reach out by using the chat in the bottom-right corner of our site or email us at support@electionbuddy.com.Want to try these features for yourself? Sign up for free today!
